Challenge Update: Week 25

Challenge Rule 1: Buy No Clothes/Don’t Covet

Not much to report on this front. The only possible confession I need to make is that I have been dreaming about being the kind of person who wears loungewear. (I am not.) Maybe one day, when my children are grown and I have leisure time again I will become a person who wears cozy cashmere loungewear. I started a whole Pinterest Board about this.

Apparently, in my Ideal Life I am a person who wears loungewear

Challenge Rule 2: The Inventory

Nothing new here, either. It’s quite freeing to not have much to report about this, either.

Challenge Rule 3: Go-To Catalogue:

I decided to put the little black dress from Popeye and Poppy into the rotation. I love it too much to wait until September to wear it, and honestly, it’s great to have something in case I have to make three costume changes in one day!! Plus, it has pockets, plus it is a comfy as loungewear.

Challenge Rule 4: Mise en Place/Plan Ahead:

The only thing a little tricky with this is thinking of how I want my Instagram Grid to look (I know, I know. There are definitely bigger things to be worrying about. But you know what? It makes me happy.)

Prior to my summer challenge, I had been working my way through the rainbow and my friend Iza earlier this week mentioned that she had noticed this for the first time recently. She said, “It just goes to prove how much you think about these things,” to which I couldn’t help but laugh. You have no idea how much space in my brain is taken up by these things.

Here. Enjoy my Instagram Grid (a glimpse of the rainbow and my current grid, just for fun) for a moment and see why it makes me happy:

Challenge Rule 5: Repair and Mend, Alter when Necessary:

I have absolutely zero to report on this front this week, which, honestly, is rather freeing!

Round-up

The challenge is going well, and I am starting to think about the next six months: what are they going to look like, both with my challenge and with my work. I am setting some goals, which I will share in my Quarterly Update next week.

Add to this challenge all the little tiny challenges I’ve added for the summer and I am definitely keeping busy this summer!

In Other News:

My Ideal Life Reels, which I am using as practice for my upcoming podcast, are sparking some very interesting conversations in my DMs (Direct Messages) and email. I love love love hearing that I am not alone in my ups and downs. What is even more humbling is the vulnerability the ladies have shown in sharing their struggles, too. I only hope I am up to the challenge.

I can’t wait to see what God has in mind for this project, because, even at the tiny little scale I am at, it goes way beyond anything I ever thought I would be doing. I am not always equipped, but I am always willing and I guess, in many ways, that’s all I need to be.

I am passionate about contentment. This is a challenge, because I am equally passionate about progress. I get up at 4:00AM to chip away at a solution to this monolithic problem: how to make progress on my contentment. Born and raised in the USA, I married a French philosophy teacher in 1999. We have lived in France since 2007. We stayed young and carefree until life threw us two curveballs in the form of little humans one after another in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Now I am a slightly older, slightly more exhausted version of myself, but with mystery stains on my walls and a never-ending pile of laundry.
